Today I’m going to tell you about the xoe dance, a traditional dance of the Thai ethnic group in VietNam. Thai people have followed this spiritual tradition for generations.

The xoe dance expresses people’s working life and wishes for a happy and wealthy life. It is performed in both public and private gatherings such as celebrations, festivals or family reunions.

The xoe dance has more than 30 forms based on the first six ancient forms. The most popular form is the xoe vong or ‘circle dance’ because it expresses social unity. People, young or old alike, join hands to make a circle around the fire and dance to the music. Besides the circle dance, there are dances with conical hats, paper fans or scarves.

Old people say they shouldn’t break with this tradition because it reflects Thai culture and lifestyle. As a Thai folk song goes, without the xoe dance, the rice won’t grow and people won’t get married.

There is a tradition in Japan that people perform the Obon dance during the Obon festival. The orginal meaning of this festival is to honour their ancestors. The festival is celebrated in mid-August in many regions of Japan and mid-July in other regions. There are many different forms of Obon dance in different regions. The most typical form is circle dance. In order to perform it, people make a circle around a yagura, a high wooden stage; some dancers move clockwise, and some counter-clockwise. Obon dance is a beautiful tradition that needs to be preserved because it is one of the most important traditions. Lots of people come back to reunite with their families during the Obon festival. I really like this dance.

Obon Festival of Japan has existed for over 500 years, derived from Buddhism to express gratitude to the ancestors and the birth. Derived from the story of Bodhisattva Mogul Mogul has hastily saved his mother from evil ghosts. From the instructions of the Buddha, with the help of the monks, Moggallana Bodhisattva's mother was freed from the punishments received after death. Feeling the great sacrifice of his mother, to show gratitude, Bodhisattva Mogadishu dance dance, which is the origin of today's Bon Odori dance.

The current Bon-Odori dance has evolved into a variety of styles and even the background music varies from region to region. Typical traditional dancers dance around a wooden truss called Yakura, which is also the stage where singers and musicians perform. In other dance styles, the dancers dance in straight lines. There are places where the dancers hold fans while dancing, and there are also dancers with colorful tufts called Tenugui. Each type of dance comes from the history and characteristics of each region. Soran Bushi, for example, is a sea scapegoat, gestures to describe the motion of the net. Just like Tanko Bushi talked about coal mining at Miike Mine in Kyushu area. The process of digging coal, hanging lanterns, pushing the car is very subtle integration into the dance. The Japanese also used many items such as fan, towel, shake bell to add more, and for Hanagasa Odori dancers, they used straw hat decorated flowers. A tug of war at Soran Bushi during Obon Bon Odori dance at sea at Soran Bushi Each region will have different Bon Odori dance Each region will have different Bon Odori dance Bon-Odori has different dance and music depending on the region. If you participate in Bon-Odori, you will feel the identity of the land, local people through the air, music, dance. When you join, you will first stand outside, observe the people dancing, then you gradually join the circle inside, just watching the people around, just move in accordance with them. Since this is a dance that repeats the same movements, anyone can easily catch up to the beat. There are many places to encourage free participation so you can dance with a relaxed mind.

At the Obon festival, any citizen can join, although not compulsory, for the ceremony, but to get a sense of the festive dances, equip yourself with a Yukata suit. well suited.

Ha Tinh is a disaster-prone province in the central of Viet Nam. Since the beginning of 2015, this province has experienced three massive floods, causing devastating property damage. The floods razed thousands of homes, damaged numerous irrigation works, roads, schools and healthcare centres. Ms. Nga Tran is my aunt, a local resident, recalled the last flood, she said that the flood in June was normal, but the one in September was awful. Water from Ngan Pho River began to submerge the floor, while outside it was still raining heavily. After a while the water was about one meter. She was had no choice but to climb up to the attic and stay there for two days. Like many other residents, all of her furniture was covered in mud, some was completely damaged for having been soaked in the water for too long. But what worried her most was the loss of her rice crop. Three months after the flood, lots of farmers still struggled with finding enough food to eat. If there is no aid from the government, the situation in this province will get worse.

Nowadays, one of the biggest problems human are facing with is water pollution. Water pollution is defined as the presence in groundwater of toxic chemicals and biological agents that exceed what is naturally found in the water and may pose a threat to human health and/or the environment. A lot of causes are responsible for this issue. And they lead to extremely bad consequences. I’d like to explain more in the following paragraphs.

Some typical causes of water pollution are Industrial waste, Sewage and waste water, Mining activities, Accidental Oil leakage, Burning of fossil fuels, Chemical fertilizers and pesticides, … These agents contribiute to water pollution.

And the consequences? Of course, it is human health! Human are likely to get into trouble with some diseases such as hepatitis by eating seafood that has been poisoned. Water pollution also brings about the death of aquatic (water) animals, Disruption of food-chains, Destruction of ecosystems.

In conclusion, water pollution is a alarming problem that needs to be solved as soon as possible. The sooner we solve it, the more healthy we are.

My hometown has changed a lot since my childhood. There are less paddy fields. Many buildings have been built up. There are more cars and motorbikes today than bicycles in the past. People turn to work in new factories instead of doing the farming. Neighbors are busier with their work and spend less time chatting with each other. People become richer and dress more fashionable. We have new technologies that make our life easier. As I grow up, I see the nonstop changing of my world, I don't feel sad but hopeful for the coming future.
